MonthlyUseful Information for Task Days
Task days at Filey Dams happen on the first Wednesday of every month. The next planned task days are 7th February and 6th March.
Things you need to know:
- Task days start at 10am (9am at Potteric Carr) and usually run until 4pm
- Sometimes task days may change because of adverse weather. Please check the website for updates https://www.ywt.org.uk/get-involved/volunteer/practical-conservation
- Booking is preferred for every task day, please contact the leader listed for the task day to book your place.
- New volunteers will need to provide emergency contact details and relevant medical details before beginning, just in case of any incident or accident.
- We ask those coming on task days to arrive with clean footwear, this should be done before arriving on site. This is to limit the spread and damage of invasive non-native species.
- Many of our reserves are rural or remote with limited welfare facilities. Toilets and running water are only available at Potteric Carr, Spurn and Stirley Farm. Contact the leader listed if you require any information regarding welfare facilities near to your chosen task day.
- We’ll provide hand washing facilities (where possible) and hand sanitiser but do bring your own supply of hand sanitiser/wipes.
- Under 18’s: For young people under 16 we will require parents or guardians to come along too. Young people aged 16 or 17 can volunteer without the need for an accompanying adult but we would need a parental consent form completed before you start volunteering.
What you should bring:
- A packed lunch and plenty to drink.
- Hard-wearing shoes, boots or wellies
- Old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
- Waterproofs, sunscreen and insect repellent when necessary, you never know what the weather will do!
Tools and gloves will be provided.
Corporate partners wishing to arrange use of their corporate volunteering allowance should contact fundraising@ywt.org.uk
