About the event

Fungi aren’t only found in the woods – discover Ingleborough’s magical and mysterious grassland fungi, including the wonderful waxcaps which are in abundance on Ingleborough's lower slopes. This is an introductory level walk ideal for complete fungi beginners, and is suitable for children as long as they are able to walk up to 3km.

This walk will take us on a journey around part of the Ingleborough National Nature Reserve, where you can learn about the many weird and wonderful species of fungi living on your doorstep.

Please note, this isn't a foraging walk, we are purely looking at identifying fungi.

What to bring

What to bring/wear

Dress for the weather (it can be very cold and exposed at Spurn, so bring plenty of layers!) and wear sturdy footwear. Please bring your own binoculars with you if you have them.

Toilets and catering

There are toilets (including an accessible toilet) at Spurn Discovery Centre. As part of your tour, enjoy friendly welcome and drinks on arrival at the Discovery Centre and a fabulous lunch in the Discovery Centre café with fantastic views of the Humber and Spurn.

Meeting point on the day

Your tour starts at the Spurn Discovery Centre.

Parking information

There is limited parking at the centre, so please park considerately and car share if possible. Please note we do not have access to the facilities at the centre.
