Back from the Brink - a conservation project aiming to save twenty of the UK’s most endangered species from extinction - has won Best Heritage Project in the National Lottery Awards, receiving a £10,000 cash prize.
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust led part of the project (along with RSPB) looking at safeguarding the willow tit in the Dearne Valley. The willow tit is Yorkshire’s most threatened resident bird – we’ve tragically lost 94% since 1970s.
