Yesterday morning, out of precaution, we advised people to stay away from our reserves at Spurn but we have now returned to business as usual. Spurn Discovery Centre returns to usual winter opening hours (closed Tuesday and Wednesday), and the reserves at Spurn and Kilnsea are open as normal from today.
We continue to hope for the best for the wildlife and wild places in this area of deeply special coastline and so far have had no reports of pollution. However we ask visitors to please be vigilant, stay away from and report any instances of distressed wildlife or pollution to a member of staff on site at Spurn.
We will have more to say once we know that threats have passed, but for now, we just want to thank everyone for their support over the last two days. We’ve been heartened by the response from people offering time and showing they care about our special coastline and the precious wildlife that we care for there.
You can also donate to support our work, join us as a valued member or volunteer with us.
