Our beloved wildlife is in devastating decline:

Yorkshire is facing a biodiversity crisis – our habitats and species are declining at an alarming rate. Our research indicates that we may have lost nearly 2,000 species over the last 200 years, that 3,000 Yorkshire species are currently at risk of extinction and we know that our nature network is neither coherent nor resilient enough to cope with the challenge of climate change and other pressures. 

As the pressures on both our depleted wildlife and our own quality of life – increasing droughts, floods, food insecurity, and polluted waters – continue to increase, the need for strong, collective action is growing more urgent. 

Nature can't act to stop and reverse these trends - but we can!

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is the only charity entirely dedicated to conserving, protecting and restoring wildlife and wild places in Yorkshire.

We have a vision of a Yorkshire that is rich in wildlife and accessible to everyone; with more wildlife, more wild places and more people on nature’s side. We’re working to put 30% of Yorkshire’s land and seas into natural recovery by 2030, and 50% by 2050.
