LSC events & activities

On a Seashore Safari you will be guided in to the rockpools at South Landing to explore the shore and discover the weird and wonderful wildlife that lives there. Expect to find crabs, snails, fish, worms, anemones and many different seaweeds. Alongside experts from the Living Seas team you will be provided with a spotter sheet to help with identification. Wear wellington boots and dress for the weather. No nets or buckets, all equipment provided. 

Take a walk along the strandline at South Landing and become a Seashore Detective. With the help of experts from the Living Seas team we will be looking for treasures washed up by the sea and what these tell us about our local marine environment. Expect shells, rocks, fossils, mermaid’s purses and more! Wear stout footwear and dress for the weather. 

Help us clean our local beaches with our Waves of Waste Co-ordinators. All equipment will be provided and we will need your help to survey a set section of beach, logging all litter encountered to help us better understand our local marine litter problems. Wear stout footwear and dress for the weather. 

While exploring our Marine Life Past and Present, we will be looking at the wildlife that lives in our rockpools today and comparing it with the animals present in local fossils. If you love rockpooling and fossil hunting this is the perfect event! Wear wellington boots and dress for the weather. These events involve a walk of 2-3 miles.
