Help us reach new heights for nature
We are privileged to have a substantial stake in Ingleborough’s awe-inspiring landscape, and careful work with our key partners and generous members in the last three years has enabled us to create a new wildlife corridor from the river to the ridge of the mountain. But there’s lots more work to do! We’re in a critical race against time to protect, restore and reconnect the fragmented habitats on and around this iconic mountain before the rare and special species that call Ingleborough home are lost forever.
If you climbed Ingleborough a thousand years ago, you'd have seen a wild abundance of mosses, ferns and shrubs, herds of grazing animals, a sky full of birds and flowers briming with butterflies and bees. Today, only remnants of this rich habitat survive in unconnected fragments. Nature is barely clinging on to our iconic mountain, and without our intervention much more wild space and wildlife will be lost.
Together, we can make a BIG difference
Our scientific evidence (as revealed in our new State of Yorkshire’s Nature report) combined with our seventy-eight years of practical conservation experience shows us not only what we can do to reverse and halt biodiversity loss in Yorkshire but also where and how we should do it! Nature can't act to stop and reverse it’s decline - but we can! We know that if we can just act urgently and together, we WILL ensure a wilder future for Yorkshire.
